Hotel IPTV — Frequently Asked Questions

COTT.TV is a cloud-based hotel IPTV platform used by properties across Europe. Below you will find answers to the most common questions about setup, pricing, integrations, and compliance.

Getting Started

How quickly can COTT.TV be set up?

The Cloud solution can go live in approximately 30 minutes. Because everything runs from the cloud, there is no server hardware to install on-site. After account creation and basic network configuration, the system streams immediately. A 14-day free trial lets properties test the platform with no upfront commitment.

Do I need to buy any hardware?

No hardware purchase is required for the Cloud solution. COTT.TV currently offers a dedicated Android TV application, with native LG WebOS and Samsung Tizen apps coming soon. The platform also works on any device with a modern web browser. For properties without reliable internet, the On-Site solution includes a dedicated server with DVB-S/S2 and DVB-T/T2/C reception.

Is there a free trial?

Yes — every property gets a 14-day free trial with full access to all features. Cancel anytime during the trial at no cost.

Pricing

Is there a monthly fee for hotel IPTV?

Yes. COTT.TV Cloud is billed per room per month, covering live TV, video-on-demand, AI concierge, room service ordering, PMS integration, guest messaging, and 24/7 support. No setup fees, no hidden costs. See our Pricing page for current rates. A 14-day free trial is available for all properties.

Can I pay for the IPTV system in installments?

Yes. Flexible financing options are available for all projects, including the On-Site hardware solution. Contact the COTT.TV sales team at [email protected] to discuss payment plans suited to your property’s budget and scale.

What’s the difference between Cloud and On-Site pricing?

The Cloud solution is a monthly subscription per room with no upfront cost — see our Pricing page for current rates. The On-Site solution is a one-time investment of approximately €250 per room, which includes the server hardware, DVB reception, and installation. On-Site is ideal for properties without reliable internet or those preferring a capex model.

Channels & Content

What TV channels are included with COTT.TV?

COTT.TV offers a growing selection of live TV channels covering international news, entertainment, sports, and regional programming. The channel lineup is continuously expanding and is customised to each property’s guest profile. Hotels can also integrate their own live TV streams if they already have content sources or can acquire them.

Can I add more channels?

Yes. The COTT.TV TV Marketplace offers additional channels that can be added individually, with pricing starting from €0.25 per channel. Hotels can also request custom channel packages tailored to their guest demographics and geographic location. If you already have your own live TV streams, these can be integrated into the platform as well.

Is there a video-on-demand library?

Yes. COTT.TV provides a video-on-demand platform where hotels can upload and manage their own content — promotional videos, property tours, local area guides, training materials, or any custom media. Guests browse and stream this content directly on the room TV.

Technical & Integration

Does hotel IPTV require an internet connection?

The Cloud solution requires a stable internet connection. For hotels where reliable internet is not available, COTT.TV also offers an On-Site solution — a dedicated server with DVB-S/S2 satellite and DVB-T/T2/C terrestrial reception that works fully offline, for a one-time fee of approximately €250 per room.

Does COTT.TV integrate with hotel PMS systems?

Yes. COTT.TV integrates with Oracle Opera, Micros, Mews, Protel, InnQuest, Infor, and most major Property Management Systems. Integration enables personalised guest welcome screens, automatic check-in/check-out syncing, room assignment, and direct billing for in-room services ordered via the TV.

Which TV brands/models are compatible?

COTT.TV currently runs on Android TV via a dedicated app, with native LG WebOS and Samsung Tizen apps coming soon. The platform also supports any device with a modern web browser. No set-top boxes or additional hardware required.

Do guests need a second remote control?

No. Guests interact with the COTT interface using the TV’s native remote control — no extra hardware in the room. The system is designed to work seamlessly with the standard remote on Android TV, LG WebOS, and Samsung Tizen devices.

Compliance & Security

Is COTT.TV GDPR compliant?

Yes. COTT.TV is fully GDPR compliant. Guest data is processed and stored on EU-based servers using advanced encryption in transit and at rest. COTT Electronics Sp. z o.o. is a registered Polish company operating under EU data protection law.

Where is guest data stored?

All guest data is encrypted in transit and at rest, stored exclusively on EU-based data centres. Personal data is automatically purged after checkout unless the guest opts in to marketing communications. The platform operates in full compliance with GDPR and EU data protection standards.
